Just 56 R.E. personnel were employed in the Somaliland operations in 1902-04.

George Alfred Sims was born at Aston Clinton, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted in the Royal Engineers in June 1901, aged 18 years, stating he had prior service in the 4th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment. Having then witnessed active service in Somaliland from July 1903 until July 1904 (Medal & clasp), and been employed on Gibraltar from March 1905 until February 1911, he was discharged at his own request in May of the latter year; sold with copied service record.
