Arthur Herbert Ealey, from Fermoy, first went out to France as a Corporal in ‘L’ Signal Battalion, R.E., in mid-August 1914 and was awarded the M.S.M. ‘In recognition of valuable services rendered with the armies in France and Flanders’ as an Acting Company-Sergeant Major in the same unit (London Gazette 3 June 1919, refers).
