Waterloo 1815 (Robert Evans, 23rd Regiment Foot, R.W.F.) fitted with replacement steel clip and ring suspension, overall contact wear but better than good fine £1800-2200
Robert Evans was born at Cross Mountain, Merioneth. A Tailor by trade he enlisted into the 23rd Regiment at Wrexham on 7 February 1813, aged 28 years, for unlimited service. He served in No. 3 Company and was present at the battle of Waterloo. Evans was discharged on 4 November 1818 due to a ‘diseased breast and ganglions on the right arm and other parts of the body which appeared at Valenciennes about eighteen months ago’. Sold with copied discharge papers.
