M.C. London Gazette 7 November 1918:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and initiative. During an advance he displayed great dash and initiative, reaching his objective successfully and consolidating his gun positions. He then took command and reorganised the infantry on a defensive line. His disregard of danger under heavy shelling was a fine example to all men under his command.’
Richard Charles Hall was appointed a temporary 2nd Lieutenant in September 1916.
