Edward Dack was born in Secunderabad, India. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Irish Regiment at Clonmel on 10 May 1892, aged 18 years. Posted to the 1st Battalion he was tried by court martial in November 1898 for insubordination and sentenced to 9 months imprisonment with hard labour, being released in June 1899. After service in South Africa he was paid a war gratuity and transferred to the Reserve in May 1903 and discharged in May 1904. With copied service papers.
