Sold with original ‘Character Certificate’, dated 14 April 1916, which confirms ‘bullet wound right leg (slight) in action at Dalmanutha, South Africa’ [date of action 8 January 1901]. Mabberly served in France from 30 September 1914 and was wounded by a shell explosion at Ypres on 21 November 1914, ultimately causing his discharge at Reading on 14 April 1916. With copied discharge papers.
