Five: Pilot Officer H. A. R. Foster, Royal Air Force, who was killed in action while serving as a Bomb Aimer in a Lancaster of No. 115 Squadron during a sortie to France in June 1944

Harold Arthur Foster was killed in action on the night of 7-8 June 1944, when his Lancaster, bound for a communications target at Chevreusse, was shot down by a night fighter and crashed 150-200 metres off the Giverny-Vernon Road. There were no survivors and today the crew are buried in a collective grave in Giverny Churchyard, near Vernon, Eure, France. The son of Arthur and Alice Foster, and the husband of Joan Rosamund Foster of Coventry, Harold was 31 years of age.
