Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Jubaland (R. J. Harris, A.B., H.M.S. Magicienne), contact marks, nearly very fine £150-200

Robert John Harris was born in Taunton, Somerset, in December 1880, and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in May 1896. Subsequently employed aboard H.M.S. Magicienne in the period November 1897 to June 1901, latterly as an Able Seaman, he was present in the Jubaland operations in 1900 (Medal & clasp), and off South Africa during the Boer War (Medal) - however, as confirmed on the published rolls, he was later issued with duplicates for both awards. Harris came ashore ‘time expired’ in December 1910; sold with copied service record.
