Charles Albert Stubbs was born in Winchester, Hampshire. A Bootmaker by occupation, he attested for the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Gosport on 26 June 1889, aged 18 years, 6 months. With the regiment he served in India, November 1891-November 1902 and was awarded the I.G.S. Medal with clasp for Punjab Frontier 1897-98. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in October 1907. Served in South Africa, October 1909-December 1910. Attained the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant and transferred to the Garrison Staff in October 1909. Discharged after giving notice on 24 December 1910. With copied service papers.

William Cockburn was born in Edinburgh. A Joiner by occupation, he attested for the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Edinburgh on 16 July 1894, aged 18 years, 1 month. Served in India, September 1897-December 1906; and South Africa, December 1906-January 1910. During the Great War he served in France, April 1915-March 1919; latterly serving in the Labour Corps. attained the rank of C.S.M. in October 1915. Wounded in action on 18 April 1915 - gunshot wound to left thigh, and on 20 July 1917 - gunshot wound to left wrist. Was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 4 January 1917) and was awarded 1914-15 Star trio of medals, Army L.S. & G.C. and Army Meritorious Service Medal (London Gazette 16 October 1919). With a quantity of copied service papers.
