Panico Inf.’, slot brooch; Purple Heart, unnamed, slot brooch; Prisoner of War Medal, reverse hand engraved, ‘Ambrose Panico’, crimp brooch; Army Good Conduct Medal, reverse hand engraved, A. J. Panico’; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, one bronze arrowhead and one star on ribbon; Victory Medal 1945, good very fine and better (7) £400-450

Ambrose J. Panico was born on 18 October 1917. He enlisted into the Army on 21 February 1942 and served in the North African and Italian theatres of war. Serving with the 142nd Infantry, 36th Infantry Division, he was captured at Salerno on 9 September 1943 and was held at Stalag 3B at Furstenberg Brandenburg. He was released from the Army on 28 November 1945. Latterly living at 60714 Niles, Cook, Illinois, he died on 6 January 2003. With some copied research; with riband bar and cloth (2) and metal (2) insignia for display purposes.
