Albert Victor Darwent enlisted on 13 July 1909. Serving in the 6th Battalion Manchester Regiment he was discharged due to wounds on 24 October 1916 and awarded the Silver War Badge.
James Allison Sedman was born in Bootham and enlisted at Chesterfield. Serving as a Private in the 1st Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment, he was killed in action on the Western Front on 8 August 1918, aged 19 years. He was buried in the Gonnehem British Cemetery. Private Sedman was the son of George and Mary Sedman, of Irton, Seamer, Scarborough. With original registered envelope and medal forwarding slip.
