Private Hamilton Thorpe, 1st Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 20 May 1915. He died of accidental injuries in Egypt on 1 June 1916, aged 36 years, and was buried in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery. He was the husband of Mary Flood (formerly Thorpe), of 3 Caledonian Road, Edinburgh. It is recorded that he had previously served in the Boer War. William Jones enlisted on 25 January 1917. He was discharged from the 5th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on 2 April 1918 and awarded the Silver War Badge. With copied roll extract.
