Andrew Melville Arklie was born in Forfarshire, Scotland in 1891. A Commercial Traveller by occupation, he attested for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Winnipeg in October 1914. Serving with the 27th Battalion Canadian Infantry as a C.Q.M.S., he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 17 September 1915. He later received a commission in the Royal Scots. As a Temporary Captain he relinquished his commission on 12 February 1919 due to ill health caused by wounds (London Gazette 11 February 1919). With copied research.
