Lauchlan McKinnon enlisted on 1 November 1913. Served in the 1st/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders from 19 July 1914. Served in France, 1 August 1916-29 April 1917 - being wounded in action on that date. Posted to the 5th Reserve Battalion in October 1917. Transferred to Class ‘W’ Reserve for employment with Forth Shipbuilding Engineering Company Ltd, Forth Shipyard, Alloa and struck off strength on 7 August 1918. Disembodied and demobilized on 31 March 1920. Re-enlisted into the 7th Battalion Arg. & Suth. Highrs. (T.A.) on 12 December 1921. With copied service papers, m.i.c. and roll extract
