Andrew Lindsay Miller was born in Cambuslang and educated at West Coats School, Cambuslang, the Glasgow High School and the School of Art. An Architect by occupation, he attested for short service with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Glasgow on 10 June 1915, aged 28 years, 11 months. Discharged to a commission in the 9th Battalion on 25 September 1916. As a 2nd Lieutenant with the battalion he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 12 October 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. With copied service papers, casualty details and m.i.c.

Walter Miller was born in Dumfries on 30 June 1895. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for the Lanarkshire Yeomanry at Lockerbie on 22 March 1913 and attained the rank of Trumpeter. He received a commission in the 13th Reserve Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. Posted to France and serving with the 11th Battalion, he was wounded on 23 April 1917 and died of his wounds on 30 April. He was buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery. The son of James and Eliza Miller, of 59 English Street, Dumfries. With copied service papers, m.i.c. and casualty details.
