Private Athur George Marles, 1st South Africa Infantry, was killed in action at the battle of Delville Wood, 18 July 1916, aged 21 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Marles, of 158 Strand Street, Cape Town. With copied service papers
Frederick Coulson Jacka was born in Wynberg, Cape Province. A Fitter by occupation, he attested for the S.A.E.F. at Cape Town on 30 June 1916. Served in France from 14 August 1918, was wounded on 8 October 1918 - suffering a gunshot wound to the right arm, and was invalided to England on 15 October With copied service papers.
