Sold with an old colour photograph, inscribed in ink on the back, ‘This is a photo of the gold medal gvien to Capt. Purefoy of the Bedfordshire Regt. by Turkish Sultan Saleem III, whose monogram it bears. He was one of the landing party of 5,000 put ashore after the bombarding of the French invading fleet.’
