Queen’s Messenger Badge, V.R., oval badge in silver-gilt, the central royal arms painted and glazed as usual, complete with pendant silver Greyhound, 55 x 40mm overall, the reverse with slide fitting, otherwise plain and unmarked, very fine and rare £1600-1800
A privately produced Queen’s Messenger badge probably initiated and used by a Messenger prior to the 1872 Foreign Office regulation instructing Messengers to purchase their badges through the Crown Jewellers. A similar badge was sold by Spink in 1988
