G. A. Smith’s m.i.c. shows him as a Warrant Officer Class I with the 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment and as a Lieutenant in the R.A.S.C. with the comment ‘no overseas service in the ranks’. He is listed as having entered France en route to Salonika on 9 November 1918.
