Cecil John Wilton Adcock was born in East London, Cape Province, South Africa, the son of William C. and Margaret Emma Adcock. A Farmer by occupation, he attested for the South African Expeditionary Forces at Potchefstroom on 20 December 1915, aged 20 years. Serving with the 12th South African Infantry in East Africa, he died of enteric fever on 12 November 1916. He was buried in the Dar es Salaam Cemetery. William Alexander Truscott was born in Port Elizabeth the son of David Truscott. A Clerk by occupation, he enlisted at Potchefstroom on 12 August 1915, aged 18 years. Serving with the 1st South African Infantry, he served in Egypt, December 1915-April 1916. Then posted to France, April 1916-January 1917, he was wounded in action on 18 July 1916 and was admitted to hospital suffering from shell shock. After a period of time in England, he returned to France in April 1917. He was killed in action in Flanders on 20 September 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. With copied service papers.
