apr = August Papworth Ready (c. 1857-1931), younger son of Robert Cooper Ready (1811-1901), who was hired by the British Museum in 1859 to make copies of its coins, medals and seals, using the then new technique of electrotyping. Robert Ready made over 22,000 electrotypes and trained his sons to continue the tradition into the 20th century; August Ready himself joined the permanent staff of the Museum in 1897 as a restorer
