Edward Simmonds was born in Tewkesbury. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 46th Regiment on 22 December 1842. He landed with the main body of the regiment in the Crimea on 8 November 1854. He died of diarrhoea at Scutari, 19 January 1855.
