Michael Toman was born in Loughinisland, Co. Down. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 46th Regiment on 20 September 1852. He landed with the main body of the regiment in the Crimea on 8 November 1854. Listed as sick at Scutari on 14 December 1854; dying there on 17 December 1854, probably of dysentery.
