Pair: Ensign George Price, 11th, late 41st Regiment, wounded in action, 8 June 1855

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Clr-Serjt G. Price, 41st Regt.) officially impressed naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (G. Price, Ensign 11 Regt.) engraved naming, pierced with ring and straight bar suspension, both with silver buckle bars, good very fine (2) £300-360

George Price was born in Berkeley, Gloucester on 23 March 1826. He enlisted into the 41st Regiment on 2 November 1844, aged 18 years. Promoted to Corporal in January 1847, Serjeant in August 1848 and Colour-Sergeant in July 1854. Served with the regiment in the Crimea from 13 November 1854. At the siege of Sebastopol, was present at the capture of Mamelon and the assault on the Quarries, 7 June 1855.

He was severely wounded in the left shoulder by grape-shot in the advanced Rifle Pit on 8 June 1855 (ref:
London Gazette 22 June 1855). Was recorded for having served with zeal and distinction in the trenches before Sebastopol 1854-55. In Turkey (Scutari?), 15 August-7 September 1855; then Malta, February-August 1856; Jamaica, May 1857-March 1858, and Trinidad, March-July 1858. He was commissioned an Ensign without purchase in the 11th Regiment on 26 March 1858 (London Gazette 26 March 1858). He later sold his commission. With copied service papers and other research.
