Three: Private A. H. Allatt, 22nd Battalion Australian Imperial Forces, who was killed in action, France, 26 August 1916

Arthur Holgate Allatt was born in Rotherham, Yorkshire. A Farm Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Australian Imperial Force on 17 March 1915, aged 19 years. Served with the 22nd Battalion A.I.F. Recorded as having been admitted to hospital at Mudros with mumps in December 1915. Served in Alexandria, January-May 1916 and then to France. On 24 June 1916 he was again admitted to hospital suffering from shell shock. Recovering, he was returned to duty and was killed in action on 26 August 1916. He was buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-sur-Boiselle. Allatt was the son of Benjamin Holgate Allatt and the late Florence Allatt, of 9 York Place, Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
