Michael John Reddington was born in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire on 19 April 1938. Employed as a Farm Labourer, he enlisted into the Royal Navy Junior Assistant Cook 2nd Class on 24 August 1959. Advanced to 1st Class in January 1955 when at H.M.S. Victory. Then at H.M.S. Dolphin, he was advanced to Acting Ship’s Cook in October 1955 and Ship’s Cook in October 1956. Promoted to Acting Leading Ship’s Cook in October 1962 when on H.M.S. Collingwood and confirmed in that rank in October 1963 when on H.M.S. Centaur. Ranked Acting Petty Officer Cook in January 1970 when at H.M.S. Vernon; he was confirmed in that rank in January 1971 when on H.M.S. Rothesay. Appointed Acting Chief Petty Officer Cook in November 1974 when at H.M.S. Pembroke and confirmed as such in October 1976 when on H.M.S. Kent. Discharged dead 18 May 1991, H.M.S. Centurion. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in May 1971 and the Bar in September 1986.
