Ernest Gilbert Cooper was born in Duino, Chile and lived and enlisted at Glasgow. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots he was awarded the M.M. fro bravery in the field (London Gazette 29 August 1918). He died of wounds, France/Flanders, on 23 May 1918, aged 22 years and was buried in the Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Cooper, of 176 Adelphi Street, South Side, Glasgow. With copied m.i.c., gazette extracts and casualty details.
