A Japanese sword, Wakizashi in a Handachi koshirae, the 45.5cm shinogi-zukuri blade with traces of midare hamon, unsigned, Shinto, ubu tang with one mekugi-ana, copper cat-scratched habaki, the tsuka bound with original brown silk thread over white fish-skin, shakudo and gilt menuki in the form of shakudo mice, copper handachi fuchi and kabuto-gane, iron mokko shaped tsuba chiselled with a border of summer blossoms, in its green aogai lacquer saya decorated with pattern of black swirling clouds with four matching copper handachi mounts en-suite with the tsuka, saya retaining an old fragile silk cord sageo, blade rubbed and lacking kozuka £350-400
