George Frederick Russ was present in operations against the Gaikhas and Galekas in 1877-78, in addition to subsequent operations, including the action at Moirosi’s Stronghold in 1879 (Medal & clasp). The Cape Mounted Rifles won three V.Cs during the course of the latter operation; sold with copied medal roll verification.
