INDIAN MUTINY 1857-58, no clasp (Captn. C. Johnston, 4th Cy. 14th Bn. R.A.), suspension slack, one or two edge bruises, otherwise very fine

Colonel Charles Johnston entered the Royal Artillery in June, 1848, and served in India 1857-58, and was present at the second battle of Cawnpore, 6 December, 1857. At this action he commanded a detachment 4th Company, 14th Battalion, with two 8-inch howitzers, as part of the Bridge-head entrenchment under Major-General C. A. Wyndham.
