ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE, C.B.E., Military, 1st type neck badge, in Garrard case of issue; INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1895-1902,3 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897- 98, Malakand 1897, Tirah 1897-98 (Lieut, 45th Sikhs); BRITISH WAR MEDAL (Lt. Col.); INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1908-35, 1 clasp, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (Major, C.I.E., C.B.E., Ind. Pol. Dept.); DELHI DURBAR 1903, silver; DELHI DURBAR 1911, silver; JUBILEE 1935; CORONATION 1937, the group mounted court style, good very fine (8)

Lieutenant-Colonel Sir (Henry) Beauchamp St. John (1874-1954), entered the Army in 1893, attached to the 32nd DCLI. He transferred to the Indian Staff Corps, in 1894, and served with 45th Rattray's Sikhs on N.W. Frontier, 1897-98, at the Defence of Malakand, relief of Chakdara, Malakand, action of Landakai, operations in Bajaur and in the Mamund country; Tirah, 1897-98; operations with the Bara Valley, 7 to 14 December, 1897 (medal with 3 clasps); Afghan War 1919 (C.B.E., despatches, medal with clasp). Amongst many other political appointments, he was Agent to the Governor General, Punjab States, 1925-27; Agent to the Governor General and Chief Commissioner in Baluchistan, 1927-30; Prime Minister of Jaipur State, Rajputana, 1933- 39. He was made C.I.E. in 1913 and was advanced to K.C.I.E. in 1930.
