MILITARY CROSS, G.V.R., reverse named; BRITISH WAR and VICTORY MEDALS, M.I.D. (2/Lieut., R.F.C.); French CROIX DE GUERRE, with bronze star, extremely fine (4)

M.C.., London Gazette, 21 March 1917, temporary 2nd Lieutenant, Leinster Regiment: 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. He succeeded in establishing a strong post in the enemy's front line. He held this post against enemy bomb attacks and captured several prisoners. He displayed great courage and initiative throughout.'

William Delavedre Lauder was commissioned, temp 2/Lieut. in the Leinster Regiment on 12th August, 1915, and transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, Military Wing, as Flying Officer (Obs.) on 29th June, 1917. He was promoted Lieutenant, Royal Air Force on 3rd July, 1918 and relinquished his commission on account of ill health contracted on active service, 21st December, 1918.
