Brigadier-General John Harry Smith Craigie served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895 as Assistant Adjutant General to the force (mentioned in despatches, London Gazette 15 November, 1895, Brevet of Colonel, medal with clasp). He retired with the honorary rank of Brigadier-General and was Substantive Colonel, Highland Light Infantry.
