A St. Georges Day Zeebrugge D.S.M. group awarded to H. C. Nash, A.B., Royal Navy, a member of the Seaman Storming Party from H.M.S. Vindictive.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL, G.V.R. (A.B. Nl. Bde. Zeebrugge-Ostend 22-3 Apl. 1918); 1914-15 STAR TRIO; DEFENCE MEDAL. The group is accompanied by a silver shield engraved (H.M.S. Princess Royal I St. George for England I H. C. Nash A.B.I Zeebrugge I April 22-23/1918) and an associated bronze medal. Contact marks, nearly very fine (7)

Able Seaman Horace Nash was part of the Seaman Storming Party ('A' Company) which landed from H.M.S. 'Vindictive' on the Mole at Zeebrugge on the night of 22-23 April 1918. It was during this action that he was severely wounded by a shell bursting near which killed two others from his party. At the time of the action he was 20 years old.
