ROYAL NIGER COMPANY MEDAL 1886-97, silver, 1 clasp, Nigeria 1886-1897 (Lieutenant R.H. McCorquodale, 3rd Dragoon Guards) engraved naming, nearly very fine

Robert Hume McCorquodale joined the 3rd Dragoon Guards, Second Lieutenant, 5th December 1891; Lieutenant, 24th May 1893. He was attached to the Royal Niger Company from February 1895 to July 1896. Although confirmed on Lt. Colonel A.M. Macfarlane's roll of the R. Niger Company Medal (O.M.R.S. Miscellany 1980) there is also a remark stating that the medal should not have been issued, because McCorquodale had died in 1896, prior to authorization of the medal.
