SS Strathdene, a salvaged relic (1955) from the merchantman built in 1909 (4321 tons) captured and sunk in 1916 by the German submarine U-53, 20 miles S by E from Nantucket Light Vessel, en route New York to Bordeaux, being the base of a brass shell case now embellished with an American silver half dollar and a silver dime, a decorative ‘capstan’ wheel and copper hanging disc, engraved with salvage details, accompanied by various research documents £10-20
