Captain, later Colonel, Edmund Sissmore, entered the Bengal Army as an Ensign, 12th N.I. in 1834. He was posted to the 69th N.I. and served with them in the second Sikh Wars being present at the actions of Chilianwala and Goojerat. He retired in 1861 and died at his residence at St. Helier, Jersey, on 19 June, 1870.
