West Riding Regiment in South Africa, 1901; entered the Northumberland Fusiliers, 1903; transferred to the Indian Army, 1905; served during the Great War in the Dardanelles including the Suvla operations, Egypt, Indian Frontier, South Persia 1917-18, North East Persia 1919-20.
