H.M.S. Impulsive took part in operation 'Wilfred' for the mining of Norwegian waters. It was during these operations that H.M.S. Glowworm encountered the German battleship Admiral Hipper in one of the most heroic actions of the war. During the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from France and Belgium, H.M.S. Impulsive was one of many ships damaged by German bombers.
