Three: Captain J. Main, Scottish Rifles, who died of wounds on the Somme 1914-15 STAR (Lieut., Sco. Rif.); BRITISH WAR AND VICTORY MEDALS (Capt.) together with bronze memorial plaque (John Main) extremely fine

Captain John Main, 6th Battalion Scottish Rifles, died of wounds on the 18 August 1916 whilst being evacuated to a base hospital. He was wounded on the 12 August, the victim of intense German shelling. The Regimental History states he was in 'C' Company, 10th Battalion. He was aged 36 and is buried in Plot 6, Row A, grave number 4 in St. Pierre Cemetery, Amiens, France. Sold with further research.
