Lieutenant A.W.B. Carless, Middlesex Regiment, who has died of wounds received in action, was the elder son of Professor Albert Carless, F.R.C.S., Major R.A.M.C. (T), and grandson of the late General George Staple Dobbie, Indian Army. He was educated at St. Clare School, Upper Walmer, and at Clifton College, and had studied for three years in the Medical Faculty of King's College, London, where he obtained a Warneford entrance scholarship. He was a member of the University of London contingent of the O.T.C., and on the outbreak of the war he obtained a commission in the Middlesex Regiment. He was sent to the front at the end of November 1914.
