France, Croix-Rouge (The Red Cross), a fine uniface repousse bronze plaque by Rene Lalique, nurse dressing a soldier's wounded head, overall size 58 x 50mm. Extremely fine and very rare

René Lalique (1860-1945), master jeweller and glassmaker, and protégé of Sarah Bernhardt, was one of the most illustrious practitioners of art Nouveau. It is thought this plaque was issued during World War I.
