QUEEN'S SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Natal (200918 Ord. Sm. G.H.Cobb, H.M.S. Forte) nearly very fine

George Cobb was drowned on 1 June 1902, after jumping off Putney Bridge in an attempt to save the life of a drowning man but was taken down with him. At the time of the incident he was on leave from H.M.S. Wildfire. Sold with detailed research including copies from the Wandsworth Borough News concerning Cobb's heroic attempt to save life.
