Charles II (1660-1685), Earl of Lauderdale, Secretary of State, created Duke of Lauderdale, 1672, by John Roettier, right facing bust in Roman costume, reverse Minerva seated holding spear in one hand and the Duke's helm in the other, with his armorial bearings at her side, 63mm (MI 550/208). Traces of two die flaws on obverse and sometime cleaned, otherwise extremely fine
