A rare Indian Army M.S.M. pair awarded to Havildar Yakub Khan, 27th Madras Infantry

The award of the M.S.M. is confirmed in General Order No. 144 by the Government of India dated 1st March 1889, 'Medals inscribed 'For Meritorious Service,' with annuity.'

One would have expected that the 37 recipients listed received the Indian Army M.S.M. and it may therefore be a mistake by the Mint that Yakub Khan was issued with the British issue.
