A Sergeant Pilot's group of four to Sergeant D.H. Cockram, Royal Air Force, who was killed in action during an attack on Sicily with No. 70 Squadron

D.H. Cockram commenced his training on 12 August 1941, with No. 11 Elementary Flying Training School at Perth. He qualified as a Pilot on Wellingtons and was posted to 70 Squadron in December 1942. His log Book records 28 operational missions over North Africa and Sicily, the last on the night of 28/29th June 1943. It was not until the night of 7/ 8th July 1943, that Sergeant D.H. Cockram went missing from operations. He was Captain of an aircraft detailed to carry out an attack on an enemy target in Sicily, but after leaving the aerodrome no further news was heard of him or his aircraft.
