VOLUNTEER FORCE LONG SERVICE (2), V.R. (1st V.B.R.W. Reg. Col. Sergt. W.T. Markes, B. Co. 1898); E.VII.R. (7671 C. Sjt. F. Hampshire, 1st V.B. R. Warwick. R.) together with an attractive framed testimonial certificate from the Members of the Sergeants Mess to Qtr. Mstr. Sergt. F. Hampshire on his retirement, dated 4th November 1911, good very fine (2)

Qtr. Mstr. Sergt. F. Hampshire enrolled in the Robin Hood Rifles, Nottingham, 1883, joined the 1st V.B. Royal Warwickshire Regiment, 1885, as a member of 'L' Company; appointed Lance-Corporal, 1890; transferred to 'A' Company on promotion of the Company, with the rank of Sergeant, 1894; promoted Colour-Sergeant, February 1896; Quarter Master Sergeant, May 1905. Enlisted in the 6th Batt. Royal Warwickshire Regiment April 1908; retiring April 1911, a total of 28 years service and was granted permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform of the Battalion on his retirement. Is in possession of the Volunteer Long Service Medal. For several years was the Best Shot in 'A' Company and holder of the Company Challenge Shield. Obtained 1st Class Musketry Certificate May 1892. Was vice-chairman of the Sergeants’ Mess Committee for several years and Chairman of various sub-committees. Was also Secretary of the Midlands Sergeants Tactical Association.
