MILITARY GENERAL SERVICE 1793-1814,2 clasps, Martinique, Guadaloupe (G. Goode, York Rangers) contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine
The Royal York Rangers were established in May 1793 and largely composed of French émigrés and Irish or German mercenaries. In 1797 the regiment was incorporated into the 3rd Bn., 60th Regiment, and in 1807 it was re-formed from six companies of the Royal African Corps. It participated in the capture of Martinique in 1809, and Guadaloupe in 1810. 5 officers and 42 other ranks lived to claim the medal, of which 34 received both clasps.
