Four: Sir George Townsend Boag, K.C.I.E., C.S.I., Indian Civil Service

Sir George Townsend Boag was educated at Westminster School and, as a King's Scholar, took part in the Coronation Service of King Edward VII. He joined the Indian Civil Service in 1907 and began a distinguished career which led to his appointments as Secretary to the Governor of Madras, 1937-38, and Chief Secretary 1936 and 1938-39; Adviser to the Governor of Madras 1939-43; Dewan of Cochin State, 1943-47. He was created C.I.E. in 1928, C.S.I. in 1936, and K.C.I.E. in 1941. Sir George Boag died in 1969. See also Lots 310 and 466
