Arthur, Duke of Wellington, a large bronze medal by P. Rouw for Webb and Mudie, bust left, 55mm (cf. BHM 1345; cf. E. 1210). As struck, mounted and glazed in circular frame on maroon velvet-backed board, the whole contained in an ornamental frame with hook for suspension

The obverse type is that used on the Governor of Plymouth medal, 1819, and the Roman Catholic Emancipation medal, 1829. In view of the similarity of the frame to that housing the William IV Accession medal of 1830 (Lot 589), and the likelihood of these pieces being framed contemporaneously at the time of issue, in all probability this is a specimen of the 1829 Emancipation medal
